Episode Four of my podcast, My Five Minutes, is now out and available for your listening or viewing pleasure. In this episode, I discuss The Grind, which is the daily drudgery you need to do in any endeavor, be it creative or otherwise. I am joined this episode by former Art Boutiki Chef Chris Edwards (Meat) as he discusses the food industry grind. Spoiler Alert! The food industry is ALL GRIND! Then I tell a story about the day Jeff Smith, creator of the acclaimed comic book series BONE, walked into my old comic book store, A World of Fantasy. Available on all podcasting platforms, if you prefer video, you can watch it on YouTube and Spotify.
If you are looking for some live music this weekend, there are some cool shows happening around the area. First, Wally Schnalle brings Idiotfish to the San Jose Jazz Breakroom on Friday, May 29th. IdiotFish was an Art Boutiki favorite and always sold out, so get your tickets and see me there.
Then on Saturday, May 30th, two shows of note, first a band we were going to have at Art Boutiki at some point, The Undercovers plays The Willow Den. They mostly perform covers but bring a lot of energy to the room. The show is free, but Willow Den is 21 and up only. If you are looking for something harder, go check out Bone Shredder at Moes Alley. Their one Art Boutiki show was crazy good and packed to the rafters for good reason.
Lastly, on Monday, June 1, Bennet Roth brings his trio to The Kuumbwa in Santa Cruz for a tribute to Thelonious Monk. Bennet is a very talented guy, and this will for sure be a great show. Check out our local show calendar for details on all of these events.
