The Hawaiian Gardens of San Jose, CA was one of the few tiki spots in the pre-silicon valley days to survive into the 90's. Originally an Italian restaurant, it was rebranded as The Hawaiian Gardens and themed to a Polynesian-styled restaurant and showroom that had a lavish garden as part of its grounds to accompany nightly live entertainment by various performers including a group of the clubs very own trained bullfrogs.
The image on this shirt comes from a vintage matchbook which was scanned then digitally traced and restored, creating an all-new piece of artwork that pays homage to The Hawaiian Gardens.
Printed in-house on our very own direct-to-garment printer, The Hawaiian Gardens shirt comes on a 100% ringspun cotton garment and is printed using water-based inks for a long lasting image. Not a transfer or other sublimation and not a screen print, this is more of a wearable giclee print.
