Irish singer-songwriter Mark Geary and San José artist Ben Henderson present separate solo sets, showcasing two distinct voices in contemporary songcraft. Both performers bring decades of experience and deeply personal storytelling to their craft.
Mark Geary left Ireland with a one-way ticket to New York over twenty years ago, honing his craft at Sin-é cafe alongside artists including the late Jeff Buckley. Time Out NY praised his “delicate songs about love and defiance” that “recall Richard Thompson and John Lennon.” With six studio and three live albums, touring remains Geary’s lifeblood. His stripped-back sound treats songs with trademark honesty, lyrics slicing through to reveal human emotional frailty, failed relationships, tenderness and desire. His treasured guitar collection stays close at hand, each instrument set up in different tunings.
Geary has shared bills with Glen Hansard, John Prine, Joe Strummer, Elvis Costello, The Pretenders and Coldplay, plus extensive headlining tours across Europe, the US and Switzerland. He has composed full scores for three films with many songs featured in TV and film. His 2020 singles “The Forest” and “Spectre” set new paths for his sound, written during intense reflection surrounded by nature. His latest album In The Time Of Locusts was released in February 2024, recorded in his forest cottage with collaborators including Glen Hansard and Dave Hingerty.
