Recital Night at Art Boutiki: Akshara Sundararajan, Joy Hackett

Performances by two San Jose State University students equals a fun night of live music.

Akshara Sundararajan debuts as a solo artist at Art Boutiki in celebration of her final years as a Jazz Studies major at San Jose State University. An innovative vocalist, she draws on her
influences of Jazz, R&B, and Carnatic music, which is an ancient form of Indian classical music, to make music that transcends the constraints of those genres by fusing them to introduce

Featuring Nick Aganad (drums), Yaxin Yang (guitar), Sophie Schoepp (bass), Joy Hackett (piano), Jacob Jackman (trumpet), Eric Hernandez (sax), GAbriel Alejandro Perez (sax), Willie Garza (percussion).
After her release of her senior project online, Joy Hackett performs the funk, soul, and electronic set live creating a recap of her musical influences during her three years of college. Her education consisted of partially jazz theory, and electro-acoustic synthesis. In this performance she combines these two studies to create a representation of the music she’d like to make.
